Operations Manager – Salem, South Dakota

The Department of Labor is now accepting resumes to fill an Operations Manager position at a manufacturing plant in Salem, South Dakota. The successful candidate will plan, direct, and control all activities of the Division to accomplish budgeted financial objectives. Be responsible for overall plant operation and organization’s facility. Implement plant policies and procedures. Establish and maintain community relations. Foster a well-trained and motivated staff. As Operations Manager you will have at least 7-10 years of manufacturing experience, which includes supervisory responsibility.

The incumbent primary responsibilities are;

Direct and coordinate plant operations within company policies and procedures

Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including co-sharing the Workplace Health and Safety Committee.  To ensure adequate programs are in place for all safety training

Meet plant production goals, cost targets, and delivery schedules

Provide direction to production, parts & service, human resources, shipping, purchasing and all aspects of trucking

Responsible for establishing production schedules

Schedule and conduct plant meetings

Responsible for product quality and continuous improvements

Assist human resources regarding salaries and hourly wages

Plan for capital purchases regarding production equipment and vehicle and truck fleet

Assist marketing in costing and pricing of product

You must possess strong planning skills and the ability to effectively manage deadlines while multi-tasking daily priorities in a fast paced environment.  Some travel will be required. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong leadership and superior organizational skills.
