Children's Home Society will be holding walk-in interviews on campus located at 801 N. Sycamore Avenue every Tuesday during the month of May from 11am to 2pm.  See you there!

The Children’s Home Society, located in Sioux Falls, SD is currently seeking a Part-Time Residential Counselor. Description of responsibilities: To work as part of a team providing supervision and care of children within a program shift in accordance with the organization’s Mission Statement and Core Values. Specific duties may include: • Nurture children through one-on-one communication and care. • Maintain vigilant supervision of children. • Participate as member of treatment team. • Facilitate structured programs; i.e., games, outdoor recreation, etc. • Assist children with hygiene, diet, getting ready for school, etc. • Discipline as needed. Respond to aggressive behavior. Maintain group order. • Screen, assess and manage children’s pain. Contact RN or emergency 911 when necessary. • Document required messages in Communication Book. • Complete daily report on assigned children. • Complete behavioral/restraint/incident reports. • Ensure safety standards and infection control policies are followed. • Assist in keeping unit clean and orderly. Bag and launder when necessary. • Participate in Quality Improvement activities/projects as required. • Attend required annual training. Maintain required certifications and proficiencies.

Salary: Starting at $11.00/hour. Depends upon experience and education.

Schedule: Works on an as needed basis. Full shifts from 10pm to 8:30am or short wake-up shifts from 6 am to 8:30am.

Essential candidate qualities, preferences and skills:
Bachelor’s degree, or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Desire references that can depict level of interest in working with children with behavioral issues. Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers and software utilized by office.
