Responsible to enhance the overall Resident experience through the provision of comprehensive nursing and to provide exceptional assisted living and memory care services to the residents and their families. This is to be handled in The Sterling Touch friendly, courteous, helpful, timely and professional manner, resulting in a very high level of Resident satisfaction. This position is under the general guidance of the Director of Health and Wellness in accordance with Community's standards, processes, procedures, practices and philosophy.

Essential Functions:

  • Participate in Sterling Start every shift.

  • Greet the Residents, guests, fellow employees and vendors in a friendly and courteous manner.

  • Assist with assessment and admission of residents for service; development of the personalized service care plan utilizing electronic records, and related service plan schedules for assisted living care services

  • Providing nursing services including medication administration and delegation of supervision of self-administered medications in accordance with State regulations, and provision of care and services to residents whose conditions are allowed to be cared for within an assisted living per State regulations

  • Participate in or develop all agency objectives, standards of care, policies and procedures concerning nursing services and the provision of assistance with activities of daily living.

  • Provide weekly reports to the Director of Health and Wellness as requested and in accordance with Company policy.

  • Provide direct nursing services to residents in accordance with State regulations of allowable nursing services within an Assisted Living community.


Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for:

  • Confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee and operations data.

  • Quality Assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.

  • Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards as detailed in the Grand Living at Lake Lorraine Employee Handbook and as may be established by Grand Living from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Due to resident expectations and both planned and unplanned events/occurrences, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business and service needs of the Community. Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Grand Living's standards, procedures and processes, including all government and industry regulations, for the safe and efficient operation of the Community. Employees who fail to meet the Grand Living at Lake Lorraine's expectations in all areas will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Supportive Functions:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the supportive functions, in up to one time/ month, community tours and marketing outreach event attendance, and other duties as requested such as moving supplies and equipment, cleaning up spills, etc. with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular request.

  • The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:

  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language. Is knowledgeable of resident rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment.

  • Excellent communications in both verbal and written form, with residents, family members, peers, employees, and vendors.

  • Ability to work in concert with all other departments to provide an exceptional resident experience.

  • Leadership skills to oversee and manage department.


Education: Associates degree in nursing

Experience: 5+ years of nursing experience in a health care setting with 2+ years with hiring and supervisory duties over a workforce comprised of a large percentage of certified nursing assistants.

Computer skills and experience in an electronic health record environment preferred.

Licenses or certificates: Licensed Practical Nurse License active in South Dakota

Ability to obtain any state or federal government required license or certificate for Assisted Living.

Grooming: All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance as detailed in the Grand Living at Lake Lorraine Employee Handbook, Orientation and Training.
