DESCRIPTION

Journey Group is looking for a Safety Manager who is able to initiate action and manage change in a dynamic environment. The Safety Manager administers the day-to-day aspects of project safety and manages the company’s safety initiatives and safety loss/risk control programs to ensure regulatory compliance and construction safety standards. The ideal candidate will balance long-term thinking and short-term execution. The Safety Manager is responsible providing safety leadership in the areas of project/jobsite safety, training and education, regulatory compliance, crisis management, and worker’s compensation.

REQUIREMENTS
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Schedule and conduct regular job site visits and perform safety audits. Review findings with field leaders and employees to reduce risk and improve workplace safety.
• Promote and foster a proactive behavioral based safety culture by empowering employees.
• Deploy and lead proactive processes, systems, tools and metrics to drive continuous safety improvement and optimize safety performance.
• Address specific OSHA reporting and record keeping requirements, other pertinent safety and regulatory requirements, and ensure product quality and process/certification compliance (i.e. GHS, and SDS information).
• Possess a strong understanding of the Crisis Management Plan to effectively support the company in the event of a crisis; serve as the primary safety leader in the absence of the Safety Director.
• Work in concert with Safety Director to complete post-accident/incident management and emergency preparedness.
• Review and provide accountability to the company for site-specific safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure work activities are performed safely and in compliance with applicable polices and regulations.
• Facilitate incident investigation, root cause analysis, site remediation, and closure of corrective actions.
• Administer the post-accident process; prepare workplace injury or accident reports, complete First Report of Injury claims, and investigate the cause.
• Facilitate safety training programs to ensure employees safely perform tasks in compliance with all safety regulations, company policies and customer requirements.

Competency:
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressive safety leadership experience is required, preferably in the construction industry, or the equivalent of education and experience to meet the essential functions of the position.
• Comprehensive technical knowledge of all federal, state and local construction-related safety regulations and standards (i.e. OSHA 30, DOT, GHS).
• Competent to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective actions.
• Effectively communicate; generate professional written material and deliver valuable verbal presentations.
• Strong people focus with clear ability to build trusted relationships, establish credibility and influence others.
• Must have valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and proof of auto insurance.
