DESCRIPTION

The Compensation & Benefits Specialist assists with ongoing maintenance and implementation of compensation and benefits programs. The qualified candidate functions at a high technical level in order to expedite internal business processes efficiently. This role will explain and interpret compensation and benefit programs, company policies, and administrative procedures for employees, as well as management. Additionally, the position will assist the Compensation Manager in gathering and reviewing required documentation and approvals for new jobs. Must be proficient with technical writing and able to draft job description language. This position requires a high level of detail and the ability work independently on complex, interdependent processes and projects.

Essential Job Functions:
Reviews employee change requests against company policy and obtains approvals, and/or requests modifications.
Explains and interprets general aspects of company benefits programs to employees.
Writes job descriptions and understands standard job language.
Participates in the timely onboarding of new employees in HRIS system in coordination with HR Recruiter.
Performs employee record changes.
Assists with submitting monthly benefit invoices to Accounts Payable.
Handles special projects including dissemination of employee gift cards and coordination of appreciation luncheons, coordination of flu shot clinics and employee 401K meetings.
Examines, assesses, and combines data to provide information to internal HR employees and/or auditors for proper flow of work.
Requires the ability to learn and articulate internal compensation and benefit programs, company policies, and administrative procedures.
Pinpoints needs and recommends modification or changes in program design and administrative procedures.

Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in HR role(s) with specific experience in Compensation or Benefits; special consideration given to candidates who demonstrate experience in managing highly detail-oriented projects and/or experience with technical writing.
Experience with HRIS software (UltiPro preferred)
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred.
