DESCRIPTION

Job Purpose:


To manage the Therapeutic Foster Care program operations in keeping with the organization’s Mission Statement and Core Values.  Responsibilities also include developing staff training plans, facility management, and backing up other Community Based Services programs. 


Essential Functions and Typical Tasks:


 I. Function: Manage operational functioning of the Therapeutic Foster Care Program in the Black Hills area (TFC).


 A. Typical Tasks:


1. Hire, supervise and direct TFC personnel.


2. Monitor performance of personnel to include facilitating peer review of recorded therapy sessions, file and note review, timeliness of work, outcome of placements, and by conducting performance appraisals.


3. Maintain at a minimal amount of direct clinical practice time.


4. In conjunction with SF TFC program complete joint file and case review process.


5. Facilitate regular communication with DSS, community partners and SF TFC program.


6. Regularly explore the youth and family clinical needs within our program and assess necessary tools and interventions to help us serve them.


7. Facilitate regularly scheduled TFC staffing meetings.


8. Facilitate completion of training schedule for new and existing TFC staff.


9. Provide guidance, supervision and approval of all placements and discharges within the TFC program.


10. Provide regular supervision of TFC cases throughout the life of the case.


11. Aid in program creation, development and expansion of the TFC and other family service programming.


12. Conduct and influence all activities of the TFC and CBS as a whole, in a trauma informed manner.


13. Serve as lead in preparation for State Review and Joint Commission review processes.


14. Attend required annual training. Maintain required certifications and proficiencies.


 II. Function: Provide therapy and case management for 2-3 clients.


 A. Typical Tasks:



  1. Complete assessments and other documentation during the child’s evaluation phase of treatment.

  2. Develop individualized treatment plans, prepare treatment plan reviews and discharge summaries with treatment team. Consult with psychiatrist and psychologist.

  3. Provide direct therapeutic services to children, including case management, individual sessions, family therapy, arranging family contacts/home visits and overseeing the child’s treatment and care in home and school.

  4. Provide direct therapeutic services to families, including family therapy and support services to individual family members, as well as parent training.

  5. Provide transitional and aftercare services.

  6. Maintain communication and work in cooperation with referral agencies.

  7. Provide evaluation services for children and families as directed by Agency policy.

  8. Perform court work as necessary to advocate on behalf of a child to help facilitate permanency.

  9. Provide supervision and management of children as necessary.

  10. Provide on-call duties as assigned.

  11. Attend required annual training. Maintain required certifications and proficiencies.

  12. May provide pre-service training, and conduct and document home studies for potential foster families.

  13. May assess and document annual relicensing process for foster families.


III. Function:   Assist with Community Based Services program supervision.


 A. Typical Tasks:  


 1. Back up facilitating monthly staff meetings.


 2. Back up supervision for other CBS programs as needed.


 3. Assist in identifying and providing for training needs for employees.


 4. Assist in completion and implementation of training schedule of all CBS staff.


 5. Assist in facility maintenance, management and planning.


 

REQUIREMENTS
Experience/Education/Skills:
Bachelors Degree in human services or related field required, Masters Degree preferred. Proven track record of leadership. Current South Dakota Social Work License required. Certified Social Work License obtained or able to be obtained in near future.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Normal office environment. Some travel required.
