Job Description

Nielson Construction is seeking a motivated individual to join their development team as the Commercial Superintendent! The Commercial Superintendent coordinates all site construction activities and supervises all field personnel as required to successfully complete projects on schedule and within budget. This includes maintaining the highest quality while administering proper construction safety practices with all activities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage subcontractors, job sites, and commercial projects.
  • Manage field operations, ensuring team members are following the company’s business models, procedures, and plans and that support functions are properly assigned and monitored.
  • Maintain field efficiency by developing, planning, and implementing policies and procedures to guide field operations.
  • Manage relationships with sub-contractors, ensuring that all services are provided as contracted and billed as agreed to terms.
  • Monitor project cost analysis and budgeting, updating the construction schedule as necessary.
  • Review submittals, orders materials, and schedules inspections as necessary throughout the construction process.
  • Analyze problems and make sound decisions in a timely manner based on objectives, risks, implications, and costs.
  • Maintain work sites, tools, and equipment with strict compliance with safety and company policies.
  • Prepare, approve, and submit accurate timesheets and other required paperwork.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience managing commercial projects and site teams is preferred.
  • Associate’s degree, bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  • Valid Driver License is required, valid Class A CDL is preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction plans and specifications is required.
  • A strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural reasoning is required.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads, as well as solve problems.
  • Must be able to work in the elements, long hours, or additional days to meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
