DESCRIPTION

Position Summary


The Controller prepares and reviews financial data, statements and reports for both internal and external purposes, and provides resolutions to a diverse range of problems consistent with an understanding of mission and vision, the role and goals of the business unit, and consistent with a comprehensive understanding of accounting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), applicable regulations, and company policies and procedures. Interprets, communicates and implements policies and practices to meet the needs of a diverse client population. Performs work independently with broadly defined work objectives and with limited review of overall results. Performs professional work requiring specialized to general knowledge in one or more fields of accounting/finance and information technology and a solid understanding and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, regulations, and terminology and applied bases in areas of specialization.


Responsibilities


The Controller is responsible for preparing financial statements, supporting schedules and ratios, and for leading company-wide initiatives. The Controller is in charge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory reporting, physical inventory, preparing engineering project and customer-paid tooling schedules, maintaining fixed assets and depreciation schedules. The Primary responsibility of the Controller is assisting the CFO.


Specific Duties



  • Position requires a high level of energy and regular consistent attendance.

  • Prepare and mail all miscellaneous invoicing including customer paid tooling, misc. shipments, prototype and hand build activity, customer responsibility RMO’s etc.

  • Record cash receipts, collections of delinquent accounts, account reconciliations.

  • Interact with Sales Team to maintain and develop customer relationships and prepare quote information.

  • Prepare metal market surcharge calculations and schedules for adjusting customer pricing.

  • Prepare inventory entries and reports.

  • Review and approve accounts payable, i.e., verifies that the payables comply with company policy.

  • Reviews and approves applications for new credit arrangements.

  • Oversee 1099 reporting process.

  • Train and provide support for accounting staff.

  • Review journal entries booked by other accountants

  • Preparation of financial statements, supporting schedules, financial reports, special analysis, and information reports.

  • Perform monthly balance sheet account schedules, analysis, and reconciliations

  • Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies.

  • Assist with budget preparation.

  • Cost Accounting and accounting on cross-departmental projects, as assigned.

  • Manage and reconcile customer paid tooling ledgers for each project.

  • Maintain AFE & fixed asset records and supporting documents.

  • Prepare detailed reports for tracking engineering project costs and maintain supporting documents.

  • Year-end physical inventory.

  • Prepares audit schedules for external auditors as required

  • Position could involve working indoors and outdoors with exposure to mechanical/moving parts hazards, dust, dirt, odors and irritants. Also, exposure to high noise levels.

  • Must support team processes and the empowerment of people through training and education, and through management practices that reinforce individual responsibility and accountability.


 

REQUIREMENTS
Required Skills / Experience(s) / Education / Certification

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
Minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience in a financial/accounting function that demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of general accounting principles and practices.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills
