The Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office invites applications to join their patrol team as a Deputy Sheriff. Our agency's mission is to preserve public safety and quality of life in Minnehaha County. We are looking for individuals who are motivated and encouraged to fulfill our mission.

 12 hour shifts/15 days a month, full-time position

√The 2018 hiring range is $22.57/hr - $24.31/hr with a full earning potential up to $32.69/hr


Do I qualify to be a Deputy Sheriff?

• Must be a minimum of age 21 at the time of hiring.
• Must be eligible for certification under the South Dakota Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Training Commission.
• Must pass a written examination.


No college degree required; previous law enforcement experience not required. You will need to possess 1 of the following:

    • 4yrs professional work experience, or
    • 2yrs active, full-time military experience, or
    • 4yrs military reserve experience, or
    • 2yrs of college or vocational school, or
    • 2yrs experience as a certified law enforcement officer
