Job Description Summary

The Director of Sales (DOS) develops and directs the total sales and marketing strategy of the hotel to ensure that occupancy, average daily rate and market share goals are achieved. This includes creating specific revenue, sales and marketing strategies and tactical plans. Hotel performance results are monitored and adjusted to current market conditions to stay nimble and react advantageously to competitors. The DOS will work directly with the General Manager and the Regional leadership team to identify specific extended stay strategies and tactics to drive revenue according to the hotel’s demands.

Must have experience with professional selling skills: opening, probing, supporting, closing. Must possess exceptional negotiating skills. Must be proficient in general computer knowledge and able to train and monitor the process of sending referrals, setting traces and profiling accounts. Communication and organizational skills are of utmost importance for this position.

Director of Sales-Corporate Business Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the Business Travel Sales/Corporate Group point of contact for Hampton Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites, and Towneplace Suites.

  • Successfully achieves or exceeds quarterly individual pace/production goals based on assigned segments.

  • Assists in closing business to ensure Business Travel Sales/Corporate Group goals are met on behalf of hotels.

  • Minimal travel may be required to complete sales calls and presentation to customers.

  • Be engaging and relationship driven in day to day encounters with customers.

  • Conducts sales presentations to clients using the latest technology.

  • Schedules and Conducts Travel Agent Educational Presentations.

  • Researches and maintains knowledge of market trends, business news, competition, and customers.

  • Solicits, negotiates and books new and repeat business through an active schedule of prospecting, telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, sales blitzes, site tours, client entertainment, community involvement and industry networking activities.

  • Develops and continually enhances relationships with key accounts, business travel and industry accounts, community organizations and professional associations to maintain high visibility and increase market share.

  • Retains and grows existing accounts through competitive market, industry research, analyzing guest needs, and creative problem solving.

  • Consistently provides a high level of exposure for Hampton Inn and TPS in major market area through direct sales solicitation.

  • Develops and implements specific account marketing plans for assigned accounts.

  • Cross sells other owned properties area/region and passes leads off.

  • Utilizes available tools and analyzes business to make profitable decisions. Emphasize higher rate on peak days of the week.

  • Successfully and consistently achieves minimum weekly sales activities and records all sales activities in Delphi.

  • Utilize the Brand Business Travel Sales/Corporate Group Tools (i.e.. Wish, Want, Walk tool: City Source Reports, Account Profiles)

  • Create quarterly goals to be approved by the General Manager and owners.

  • Responsible for responding and updating the Brand Business Travel platforms (i.e Lanyon)

  • Develop relationships with Brand Account Representatives to drive key corporate account share.

  • Any other duties directed by the General and Assistant Managers and owners.

• Expected to be available when business demands it and be on call per client needs.
• Maintain a minimum of 90% direct sales & 10% administrative mix of time usage.
• Expected to conduct 10-15 Face to Face client meetings, 30-40 Cold Calls (telephone, email, in person), 2-5 Site Tours with clients, 15-20 Maintenance Touch points with clients
• Maintain Prime Selling Time: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm (Monday - Thursday)
• Ensure all Meetings, Direct Bills, and Guest Room Blocks have a signed contract, along with a signed credit card authorization form
• Participates in weekly revenue and sales calls with detailed sales updates.
• Ensures prompt response to all inquiries and customer requests.
