HIRING RANGE DOQ: $23.14 - $25.03 hourly

JOB SUMMARY  

Responsible for operating and maintaining complex landfill gas and leachate collection systems. Perform inspections, maintenance, monitoring, and repair of landfill gas equipment. Collect environmental samples, conduct inspections, and monitor and maintain landfill systems to ensure accordance with all applicable regulations and requirements. The majority of this work will be performed outdoors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree in a related science and two (2) years’ experience air quality and water sampling; or any such combination of education, experience, and training as may be acceptable to the hiring authority.

Work experience in landfill, gas pipeline, or related infrastructure and/or utilities desirable.

Ability to work a four ten-hour day work week schedule and rotating shifts to cover Standby time required to accommodate 24-hour-per-day, 7-day-per-week emergencies. Must have the ability to respond on site within 30 minutes for after-hour emergency call-ins such as alarms or system malfunctions.

Must be operator-qualified for safety sensitive gas pipeline-related tasks within one (1) year of hire as required by the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission.

Must possess or be able to obtain prior to hire a valid driver’s license.
