DESCRIPTION

You must perform all laundry duties in accordance with the Company policies and procedures.  You are responsible for the hotel’s laundry room and linen storage areas. Along with the immediate supervisors, you are responsible for the care of linens, supplies, and laundry equipment.  You may be asked to perform other duties, from time to time, which are not stated in this job description.
 
Immediate Supervisor: The lead room attendant is your immediate supervisor.  In the absence of the lead room attendant, the general manager is your immediate supervisor.  In the absence of your immediate supervisors, the Director of Operations assigned to the hotel is available to answer questions.
 
Dress Code: You must wear a uniform with a name tag (provided by the Company) which only uses your first name, and closedtoe shoes of appropriate nature (athletic shoes are not acceptable).  All employees must wear the same color combinations.  You will be furnished with two uniforms (if you would like more than two uniforms, you must pay for additional ones).  You are responsible for maintaining the condition and cleanliness of your uniforms.  Follow the washing instructions tag attached to each uniform.  If your uniform is torn or damaged due to normal use, your uniform will be replaced or repaired as needed.  When you receive your uniforms, you must sign an authorization form.  By signing this form, you are acknowledging that you have received the uniforms for use while employed at the hotel and have authorized the hotel to deduct $15.00 from your final pay for each uniform damaged due to your intentional acts or not returned to the hotel when employment ends.

16. Complies with BBP, OSHA, and Hazcomm 2012 standards.  Knows the potential hazards of any chemicals used and the proper personal protective equipment required.  Uses personal protective equipment as directed by Safety Data Sheets.
 
Essential job duties and responsibilities:


1. Has the ability to report to work on time.

6. Has the ability to walk, stand, remain stationary for long periods of time; ability to walk up and down stairs, reach to heights of up to 72 inches, bend to the floor, lift, push, pull when specific job duties require.
7. Answers any questions about the hotel and community, is knowledgeable about the location of attractions, restaurants, shopping, churches, and answers complaints or concerns by the guests. 
8. Is part of the hotel’s security team and is responsible for reporting any potential safety or security hazards to immediate supervisor.
9. Removes soiled linens from laundry chute, approximately 40 to 60 inches from the floor, and places in laundry cart approximately 32 to 38 inches high (rags must be placed in a plastic bag before putting them in laundry chute).  You control the weight of the linen by the quantity you remove each time. 
10. Removes soiled linens from laundry cart.
11. Sorts soiled linens and identify linens for special treatment as required by Bloodborne Pathogen Procedures (BBP). 
12. Checks all linens for stains before washing and drying; pre-spot or soak, if needed.  Soak stained linens in the sink in laundry room approximately 35 inches from the floor.
13. Any linens stained, worn, and in need of repair that would not be suitable for guest rooms should be reported to the immediate supervisor.
14. Washes soiled linens.
a. Includes sheets, towels, pillow cases, duvet, bed scarf, mattress pads, shower curtains (wash rags separately).  
b. Must be able to take soiled linen from the bottom of the laundry cart, approximately 6 inches from the floor, and load the appropriate amount of soiled linens in the washer, according to the Company requirements and load charts provided by the manufacturer.
c. Must be able to operate washing machine controls, which are approximately 62 inches from the floor.  Adjust controls to the correct setting for the type of linen being laundered, according to Company and manufacturer’s instructions.  
15. Dries washed linens.    
(NOTE: One laundry cart must be designated and only used for clean linens, wet or dry)
a. Remove clean wet linens from washer and load into clean linen laundry cart.  
b. Pull or push laundry cart containing clean wet linens, weighing approximately 100 lbs., from washer to dryer.  
c. Take clean, wet linens from laundry cart, approximately 25 inches deep, and load into dryer, approximately 34 inches from the floor.  You control the weight of the linen by the quantity you remove each time. 
d. Place the proper amount of clean linens in the dryer, according to the Company and manufacturer's instructions.  Must be able to operate dryer controls, approximately 67 inches from the floor.  
e. Set controls to the correct setting for the type of linen, according to the Company and manufacturer's instructions.
16. Folds and stores dry linens.     
a. Take clean, dry linens from the dryer, height approximately 34 inches from the floor, and load into the lau
