If you are a licensed insurance agent and are looking for a change of pace, to be part of a growing company and have the opportunity to build an inside sales and service team, then Five Star Call Centers has the opportunity for you!

The successful candidate will need to have an active South Dakota property and casualty license, with experience in policies that cover workers’ compensation claims, to fully support client needs, including ability to sell and support policies, including collecting on premiums. This person would be the onsite expert who would explain the terms of insurance policies, obtain price quotes, process applications, provide reports and will also help corporate clients reduce their premiums by recommending better hiring practices and improvements in their human resources departments.  As the account grows, this person will aide in the design, development and leadership of a customer service team that would handle basic functions as the service coverage expands to 24/7.  The scheduled hours for this role would be between the hours of 11:00am – 9:00pm.   

General Responsibilities:

  • Possess the ability to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the specific client products and services to identify and satisfy customer needs.

  • Possess advanced customer service skills including knowledge of client policies and procedures to maintain a high first-call resolution rate.

  • Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner at all times.

  • Be able to successfully handle customer interactions in multiple systems.

  • Record electronic customer transactions accurately and with every contact.

  • Return messages via phone or email 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assisting customers through navigating online application process, including assisting with questions regarding type of legal structure, types of payroll to input, selecting class code and adding another class

  • Answer basic questions regarding their policy and claims processing, taking premium payments and processing policy changes

  • Be prepared to work flexible hours to provide exceptional service; evenings and weekend will be required as that is when most customers will be enrolling and making changes to their policies.   


  • An ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

  • Effectively handles multiple assignments and projects with minimal supervision

  • Demonstrated record of driving results, applying a sense of urgency and bringing issues to closure in a timely manner with attention to detail despite obstacles and opposition

  • Experience in a coaching / mentorship role that has driven sales production (in a call center environment) and experience identifying and developing motivational and sales practices to drive results

  • Proven in-depth analytical skills

  • Active SD property and casualty license, with experience in policies that cover workers’ compensation claims

  • 2+ years’ experience in the insurance industry and/or management of a call center sales, service, or retention unit is preferred
