Summary


Regulatory Affairs and Labeling technician will learn and become knowledgeable in labeling regulations and standards set forth by FDA/USDA/CFIA. The technician will provide and create nutrition facts panels, ingredient statements, net weights, and UPCs for new products. The technician will work with suppliers gathering and maintaining SQF required documents, product specifications and nutritional information. The Quality Assurance Regulatory Affairs and Labeling Technician is responsible for auditing, adhering, implementing, monitoring, verifying, validating, and writing procedures and processes that fall under the compliance umbrellas of SQF, HACCP, GMP, Food Safety & Quality in all areas of USDA/FDA labeling, manufacturing, warehousing.


Job Description


This position directly impacts corporate profitability and requires the following:



  • Must be knowledgeable in SQF, USDA/FDA regulations, GMP's, Food Safety, HACCP & SSOPs.

  • Ensures GMPs, HACCP, Food Safety & Quality, SSOP & SQF standards are met, and followed in all areas of USDA/FDA manufacturing & warehousing as well as internal QA/QC standards.

  • Will be willing to learn and become knowledgeable in USDA, FDA, CFIA, and SQF labeling requirements.

  • Provide and create nutrition facts panels, ingredient statements, net weight statements, UPC's etc. for new product developments.

  • Create, review and approve packaging/label artwork for nutritional and regulatory compliance requirements such as font size, test placement, proper product names, claims, principle display panel, information panel, etc.

  • Complete label layout and thermal transfer printing of labels for company and vendors as needed.

  • When conducting and participating in production and facility audits, ensures that GMPs, HACCP, Food Safety & Quality, SSOP(Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures) & SQF standards are met, and followed in all areas of USDA/FDA manufacturing & warehousing as well as internal QA/QC standards

  • Assist the QA team in creation, implementation, verification, and validation of standards and procedures falling under SQF, USDA/FDA regulations, GMP's, Food Safety, HACCP & SSOPs.

  • Gather & maintain product & supplier documents per SQF program requirements.

  • Demonstrate high organizational skills and excellence in planning, execution and tight timelines through project evaluation and use of resources available.

  • Communicates with Orion personnel from various departments regarding product quality & food safety issues.

  • Assist Director of Quality Assurance, Quality Assurance Manager, and Quality Assurance Supervisor with special projects and high-priority objectives as needed.

  • Provide back up to the QA Compliance Specialist, QA Regulatory and QA Tech as needed.

  • Poses excellent verbal and oral communication skills.

  • Must have basic understanding of the Microsoft office suite.

  • Any other duties deemed necessary by the Quality Assurance Management Team.

REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Self-motivated, high standard of work ethics.
Communication: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Technology Experience: Proficient in MS Office products (Excel, Word, MS Outlook, Powerpoint). SAP desired.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
