Job Description

As a System Administrator you will provide technical maintenance and recovery support to our internal and external customers. Use a wide variety of testing tools and techniques to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems associated with the system’s hardware and software.  Interfaces with vendors to provide service and maintain the system, recommends necessary measures to limit the system’s downtime, provides technical support to optimize system performance.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide technical maintenance and recovery support the customers’ network.
  • Perform support and administration for hardware and some network related systems. Test and troubleshoot to resolve complex technical problems associated with the system’s hardware and software.  Complete work orders as assigned.
  • Perform security-related tasks for the hardware and network and related systems. 
  • Monitor and perform backups according to schedules.
  • Create and maintain proper system and process documentation. 
  • Interface with vendors and maintenance providers to service and maintain the customer’s system.
  • Provide technical assistance to other members and areas of the Technology department, including Network Support, Telecommunications, Data Management and Automation departments.
  • Evaluate, install, and configure new technology, systems upgrades and/or enhancements. Such as:
    • ESXI systems
    • Storage systems
    • 3cx phone systems
    • Simple networking devices
  • Assist in the evaluation of new systems and programs and potential system enhancements.  Identify/develop improvements to existing systems to enhance productivity.
  • Assist in the generation of business cases and reasonings.
  • Install hardware (servers, routers, and network equipment) and software (service packs, patches, and upgrades). Including:
    • Server room setup and builds
    • Cable management and termination
  • Coordinates internal and external resources for necessary assistance on implementations or upgrades.
  • Manages and performs technical related tasks as required by assigned projects.
  • Communicate project progress, provide input/expertise for designed committees and/or teams.

 

 

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to manage time and tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to troubleshoot effectively and positively with customers
  • Provide excellent problem-solving and customer service skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the company.
  • A self-starter able to work independently by comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Complete documentation of tasks through software provided.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation.

 

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates degree in related field and 3 to 5 years of IT experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with the following platforms ESXI, simple networking items, storage components, common IT tools such as anti-virus and backup systems.
