Job Description
Dakota State University is seeking applications for a full-time System Engineer. This position will design and manage the Microsoft Cloud Services for DSU’s campus. This position will configure and maintain Active Directory (On-Premise and Azure), endpoint management, Exchange, and Microsoft Teams.
Responsibilities:
- Daily administration of Microsoft 365 services to include Microsoft Intune, Exchange, Microsoft AD, and Azure services.
- Daily maintenance of Microsoft domain forest Active Directory services using AD tools and PowerShell scripts.
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes by reviewing logs, warnings, and alerts.
- Test, apply, and keep up-to-date patches and upgrades for all systems and software.
- Configure and add new services as necessary with guidance and support from DSU Leadership.
- Respond quickly to monitoring alerts while identifying trouble source and implementing resolution and communication throughout each step.
- Provide the ongoing design of the server and data storage infrastructure to accommodate continuing business needs, changes in server and data storage technology, and requirements of end users.
- Design, Develop, and maintain processes to automate manual tasks related to systems operations and maintenance.
- Assess long and short-term server and data storage technology needs for DSU; identify strategies to address them and participate in ITS discussions for project planning.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 Administration – Microsoft Entra ID, Endpoint management, Exchange, Intune, Teams
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and Linux operating systems, VMware administration, Active Directory, and Microsoft SQL.
- Knowledge of Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies.
- Knowledge of basic networking concepts and protocols.
- Thorough knowledge of security best practices as they related to server and data storage environments.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
