Full-Time/Part-Time 4-H Program Assistant

Position Type: Part-Time possibly leading to Full-Time.
Job Summary:
The Part-Time 4-H Program Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the 4-H program in Davison County. This position requires a motivated individual with strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to facilitate and enhance 4-H program activities, administration, and outreach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Administration:
- Coordinate and oversee administrative tasks related to 4-H programs, events, and activities.
- Address community needs and develop programs to provide for those.
- Maintain accurate records of participants, volunteers, and program outcomes.
- Assist in the preparation and dissemination of program materials, newsletters, and promotional content.
- Provide timely communication with County Commissioners.
- Communication & Outreach:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for 4-H inquiries, providing information and support to participants, volunteers, and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with community partners, schools, and organizations to promote 4-H programs and recruit participants, including school enrichment programs such as Cloverbuds and after school activities.
- Facilitate communication between 4-H clubs, leaders, and members to ensure effective program delivery, including creating newsletters and other media sources.
- Event Coordination:
- Assist in planning, organizing, and executing 4-H events, workshops, and competitions.
- Coordinate logistics, resources, and volunteers for successful event implementation.
- Develop and deliver educational programs in the programming priority areas of leadership skills, life skills, social skills, and workforce development.
- Evaluate event outcomes and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Training & Development:
- Support the training and development of 4-H volunteers, leaders, and members, providing leadership for volunteer management, including identification, orientation, training, recognition, and evaluation of both youth and adult volunteers.
- Provide resources, tools, and guidance to enhance 4-H program delivery and engagement.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that aligns with the values and principles of the SDSU Extension 4-H Youth Development Program.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent such as a GED.
- Previous experience in program administration, youth development, or related areas.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of 4-H principles, values, and programming.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed to events.

Compensation: $18.00-20.00/hour DOE.
