The Accounting Assistant is responsible for all aspects of accounts payable transactions and handling routine accounting tasks. They will provide the finance department with a variety of administrative support including managing accounts payables, general ledger entries, and reconciliations.? 

These are some of the things our Accounting Assistant will do: 

  • Process and manage accounts payable transactions accurately and in a timely manner. 
  • Prepares various expense reports for program departments and assists program staff with submitting supply requests 
  • Verify invoices and ensure proper documentation and approval prior to payment. 
  • Perform regular reconciliations of charge accounts to maintain accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly. 
  • Conduct efficient and precise data entry tasks related to financial records and maintain updated and organized databases. 
  • Assist in preparing and tracking grant claims, ensuring compliance with regulations and timely submissions. 
  • Support the finance team in making necessary adjustments to the general ledger as directed. 
  • Assists CFO & Accounting Manager on projects and other tasks as assigned. 
  • Assists in preparation of the annual audit.

  • This is a full time position. Our entire organization works Monday to Friday with no nights, weekends, or holidays. 
  • We are still determining the pay scale for this position. We will update this posting when a range has been determined.

We can teach you a lot, but there are a few things we are looking for in our Accounting Assistant: 

  • Previous education or experience in accounting is preferred. 
  • Experience Sage Intacct is helpful, but not required. 
  • Excellent time management and with a proven ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize duties, and work independently while functioning as a member of a team.  
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 
  • A valid CPR certification or the ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification within 90 days of employment is required. CPR training and certification is provided in-house by Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire is the largest childcare provider in South Dakota serving 1,500 youth?from 4 weeks to 18 years of age daily. We are a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, but we are our own company.
