The Department of Social Services strives to make a significant impact in the lives of the citizens of South Dakota. The Division of Child Support is looking for a dependable and highly organized individual who is a pro-active self starter, customer service driven, sensitive to deadlines and attentive to detail. In this position, the desired candidate will be able to develop professional skills while working with a highly skilled team in a supportive team environment.
Duties include:
- allocating payments in a timely manner to ensure federal distribution time frames are met;
- review payment logs to ensure the payments are correctly identified and split before the logs are verified;
- verify exception logs;
- review the cancelled warrant list each month;
- research misapplied payments for the purposes to establish accurate payment distribution.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Knowledge of:
- basic accounting principles and practices;
- Federal Distribution Guidelines;
- mainframe and access data bases;
- operating a calculator and applicable accounting software.
Ability to:
- complete tasks accurately and within federal guidelines;
- communicate both orally and in writing;
- use a calculator and computer and learn applicable accounting software;
- prioritize and complete work by established deadlines;
- provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers;
- maintain confidentiality;
- assist with the Automatic Withdrawal program;
- update Doc IDs;
- assist with the EPC reliacard program.

This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
