The Department of Social Services is seeking an administrative assistant in the Secretariat Office in Pierre. This is a full-time position with full benefits. For more information on the Department of Social Services, please visit https://dss.sd.gov/ .

Primary Duties Include:

  • Be the first point of contact for the Department's central phone line, ensuring calls are handled professionally and directed appropriately.
  • Greet, direct, and assist customers and DSS personnel, creating a welcoming and helpful environment.
  • Keep spreadsheets, directories, and records updated with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail, coordinate travel arrangements, and stay on top of administrative tasks.
  • Help onboard new employees, making sure they have what they need to get started successfully.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings and events, managing logistics and ensuring things run smoothly.
  • Support the office with a variety of administrative and office-manager-type tasks.
