Founded in 2005, Mickelson & Company is a tax-motivated capital advisory firm located in Sioux Falls, SD. We specialize in the monetization of federal and state tax credits for the railroad and renewable energy industries.

Compensation:  Dependent upon experience, good base salary with bonus potential

Core Responsibilities:

  • Proven proficiency at financial modeling
  • Understand, organize and evaluate multi-year company financial statements including balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flows
  • Conduct research on prospective clients, counterparties, etc. in relation to the railroad and renewable energy industries and effectively organize and summarize
  • Read and understand tax credit legislation and regulations
  • Coordinate and support growth of new and current state and industrial development tax credits and other lines of business (grants and renewables)
  • Communicate with clients, legislators, and lobbyists (as applicable) with confidence and good judgement in an effective and efficient manner that is consistent with our firm culture
  • Display the ability to secure business without direct supervision and to perform the work necessary to effectuate the service to be provided
  • Identify and solicit federal and state counterparties building buyer base and organize and summarize
  • Foresee work activity and initiate action to keep the activity flow on task and schedule
  • For business development roles, be effective at cold-calling and initiating introductions to new relationships
  • Grow existing relationships

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics/Business, or Mathematics
  • Two years relevant accounting experience
  • Knowledge of the principles, processes, and standards for financial analysis, forecasting and reporting
  • Experience with contract administration a plus
