West Point Ford is looking to hire Auto Technicians:

Key responsibilities of an auto technician include:

  1. Diagnosis: Auto technicians use various diagnostic tools and techniques to identify issues and malfunctions in vehicles. They might connect to onboard computer systems to retrieve error codes or perform hands-on inspections to determine the root causes of problems.

  2. Repair and Maintenance: Once issues are identified, auto technicians perform repairs and maintenance tasks. This can involve replacing worn or damaged parts, fixing electrical or mechanical problems, and ensuring proper functioning of vehicle systems.

  3. Routine Maintenance: Auto technicians also conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid level checks. Regular maintenance helps prevent major issues and extends the life of the vehicle.

  4. Customer Interaction: Auto technicians often interact directly with customers to understand the problems they are experiencing with their vehicles and to provide explanations of needed repairs.

  5. Using Tools and Equipment: Auto technicians work with a variety of tools and equipment, including diagnostic scanners, lifts, wrenches, and specialized tools for specific repairs.

  6. Documentation: Keeping accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance performed is essential for tracking a vehicle's history and ensuring proper communication with customers.

  7. Staying Current: The automotive industry is constantly evolving with new technologies and advancements. Auto technicians need to stay updated with the latest developments in vehicle systems, software, and repair techniques.

  8. Safety: Ensuring safety is a critical aspect of an auto technician's role. They must follow safety protocols and guidelines while working with potentially hazardous materials and equipment.

Auto technicians can specialize in various areas within the automotive field, such as:

  • Engine Repair: Specializing in diagnosing and repairing issues related to the engine, such as combustion problems, oil leaks, and overheating.

  • Transmission Repair: Focusing on diagnosing and repairing transmission-related problems, including shifting issues and transmission fluid leaks.

  • Brake Repair: Specializing in brake system diagnostics and repairs, including replacing brake pads, rotors, and calipers.

  • Electrical Systems: Specializing in diagnosing and repairing electrical issues, including problems with lights, power windows, and electronic control modules.

  • HVAC Systems: Specializing in diagnosing and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in vehicles.

  • * Must be able to lift up to 100lbs occasionally

  • * Participate in all available training programs

 

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

A valid driver's license is required

Based upon experience
