This is a Full-Time 40 Hours Weekly position with the Bureau of Human Resources and Administration (BHRA). For more information on BHRA, please visit https://boa.sd.gov/ .
The candidate will process incoming and outgoing mail with the use of automated postal machines to ensure mail is sent to the proper destination. The successful candidate will operate a mail delivery van to pick up and deliver mail at different stops daily. Will also work with other staff to meet daily mailing deadlines.
Incumbent must be able to get in and out of vehicles repeatedly and work in all types of weather.
Licenses and Certifications: Must possess a valid SD Driver's License.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have: The ability to work as a team and the ability to work unsupervised on daily delivery routes picking up and delivering mail. Must be a good communicator while getting along with fellow employees and customers and have the ability to meet daily deadlines in a fast past environment.
Knowledge of:
- English grammar, spelling, and punctuation;
- numeric, alphabetical and chronological sequences;
- basic operations of a computer for mail processing and operating barcoding equipment.
Skill to:
- learn 3 different delivery routes around the Pierre location;
- work in a fast paced setting with daily mail deadlines.
Ability to:
- understand and apply written instructions;
- communicate information clearly and concisely;
- sort mail numerically, alphabetically, and chronologically;
- lift 50 pounds repeatedly. This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
