Midland Contracting, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time bookkeeper/accountant located in our Volga, SD location. Midland Contracting, Inc. is a company that specializes in Grading, Excavation, Recycling, Trenching and Gravel Lay-down in the earthwork industry.
Duties: The accounting position will fulfill the following primary position duties.
- Accounts Receivable and Payable related to Construction Projects
- Job Cost Accounting, Preparation, and Analysis
- Files timely payroll, sales, excise, and fuel tax returns
- Prepare monthly and year end financials and close books
- Record keeping in compliance with Federal and State Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
- Setting up bid schedules for quotes using Excel, completing bid forms, ordering bid bonds,and order project plans
- Prepare Contractor Exempt Certificate, prepare lien waiver, order Certificate of Insurance, track load tickets and contract quantities, prepare weekly progress report, submit pay estimates and prepare all state and federal reports related to construction projects.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Three to five years of general accounting experience or education.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy of accounting
- Proficient with QuickBooks Pro or similar accounting software; Microsoft Word and Excel
