Job Description
Objective: Transport feed for pigs in a professional manner that meets expectations of our shareholders and producers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Load, transport, and unload feeder pigs to and from multiple locations while driving with caution to ensure the safety of yourself as well as the equipment you are using.
- Ensure the semi is safe for each trip by conducting a pre-trip check
- Have the ability to unhook trailers and hook up to another safely and efficiently.
- Operate the equipment on the trailer such as tarps, cranks and gates.
- Washing/ disinfecting trailers entirely after use
- Perform basic routine maintenance to semi-tractor and trailer
- Comply with DOT standards for log books and adequate logs for billing purposes
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
High School education or GED
Experience:
Driving experience preferred but not required
Training:
New Hire Transportation
TQA Certification
Semi-Tractor/Trailer Operation & Maintenance
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and operation of a semi-tractor and trailer
The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places: outside weather conditions: extreme cold and extreme heat
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Physical Requirements:
Standing, walking and driving semi
Frequent bending, reaching, squatting and kneeling
Frequent use of one or both hands/arms to grasp or pull
Frequent lifting of objects weighing 3-20 pounds
Occasional lifting of objects weighing 40-60 pounds
Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to attend and participate in meetings of various lengths
Additional Requirements:
Must have valid drivers license and reliable transportation
CDL not required but needs to be willing to get one
PQA and TQA certifications required
