Job Description

OBJECTIVE:
Deliver quality animals in a safe environment that meets expectations of our shareholders and producers. Provide a favorable environment for the livestock being transported with our company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (other duties as assigned)

  • Complete a pre-trip check to ensure safety of the vehicle.
  • Review physical addition of decking in trucks to ensure a safe environment for the animals being transported.
  • Provide a comfortable environment for livestock, apply adequate bedding while in transport.
  • Safe operation of pick-up with trailer or semi with trailer.
  • Follow all industry standards, while loading and unloading livestock.
  • Comply with Pipestone’s biosecurity procedures to ensure a healthy pig upon delivery.
  • Comply with DOT standards for logbooks and adequate logs for billing purposes.
  • Adjust ventilation as needed to allow maximum comfort for the livestock.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

  • Adhere to all washing and drying procedures set forth by the biosecurity team and management.
  • Wash each vehicle entirely after each use to ensure zero disease transfer.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
High school education or 2 year degree

Experience:
2 years of livestock transportation preferred

Work Environment:
Operation of a pickup and trailer combination during all times of day and seasons
Loading and unloading animals from within the trailer
Enclosed wash bay area with wet, damp conditions
Subject to adverse weather
Noise levels that require hearing protection in some areas

Physical Requirements:
Standing, walking and ability to be on feet 8 – 10 hours per day
Frequent bending, reaching, squatting and kneeling
Frequent use of one or both hands/arms to grasp or pull
Frequent lifting of objects weighing 3-20 pounds
Occasional bending while pulling/lifting up to 100 pounds with assistance from another person if needed
Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written

Additional Requirements:
Must possess a Class A CDL with valid med card
TQA certification or the ability to become certified
Must be able to work weekends as needed
Must have reliable transportation to work

Compensation, Pay & Benefits:
Compensation rate of $22-$26 hour + Overtime Pay, depending on experience
