This position oversees most aspects the CDL Program within Driver Licensing. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Commercial Licensing requirements in SD Statutes as well as Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations. This position requires the ability to pivot directions during frequent interruptions from Driver Licensing employees, 3rd Party Commercial Driver Licensing Examiners, 3rd Party Commercial Testers/Organizations, general public inquiries. and other state and federal partners. This position is responsible for hiring, training and providing work direction for roughly 25 3rd party CDL drive test Examiners and their companies across the state . Examples of a few duties the Auditor oversees is: Reviewing all data of drive tests, co-scoring CDL drive tests, CDL distance testing observations, performing audits of files of the testers, and reviewing pass/fail records of all testers. The Auditor is also required to provide CDL training to all Driver Licensing Personnel and 3rd Party drive test Examiners. The ideal candidate will also be able to create partnerships and outreach for the Department to provide Group Testing events to the public.

This position is an hourly position but requires the ability to travel and the ability to be available to the agency, department and 3rd Party Commercial Driver Licensing Examiners at all times. This position requires frequent travel across the state, and out of to conferences and committee meetings.

Licenses and Certifications:
Valid driver's license with the ability to obtain a commercial drivers license class A within 6 months of hire.

This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
