Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Operations Officer (Field) to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess Gil Haugan Constructions core values (Genuine, Hardworking and Committed). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction operations management and experience in multiple aspects of construction. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of our projects and the overall efficiency of our business processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-level operational leadership and oversight of multiple construction projects, ensuring alignment with company goals, budgets, and timelines.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and optimize resource allocation.
- Lead and oversee field operations teams, including Superintendents, Safety Logistics, and Maintenance personnel, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Continuously evaluate the workload and forecast the needs of the company to support the current and future workload.
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Interpret blueprints, recommend work processes, and provide technical guidance.
- Establish company-wide KPIs and operational benchmarks, ensuring projects are meeting expectations for budget, timelines, and resource utilization.
- Monitor project progress and performance, identifying and addressing any issues that arise.
- Responsible for quality control on all job sites.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Prepare and present regular reports on project status, operational performance, and strategic initiatives to senior management.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team, to include oversite on Logistics, Maintenance, Safety, and Construction Operations.
- Ensure all project and payroll documents is submitted timely and accurately.

Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business Administration preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of construction industry practices, project management, materials, methods tools and operational best practices.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Field Operation Manager or Senior Superintendent or similar Leadership role.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate, direct and develop people as they work, identifying strengths of each person and placing them in a position to perform at their best.
- An aptitude focused on mentoring new superintendents as well as collaborating on the development of on the job training.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others maintaining a positive working relationship with owner/clients, architects/designers, subcontractors, vendors and Gil Haugan Team members.
- Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution and decision-making abilities.
- Proven experience with the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) or equivalent.
- Experience with Building Codes.
- Travel is primarily local.
