Job Summary & Responsibilities
- Seeking a full-time Civil Survey Crew Chief in Brookings, SD.
- In responsible charge of Survey Crew(s), scheduling of surveys and construction staking.
- Responsible for the survey inventory, keeping good working condition of the equipment, researching new technology to keep current with trends/standards, etc.
- Conduct survey activities including topographic, boundary, and construction staking for various projects.
- Use equipment (GPS, total station, data collector, level, etc.) to complete necessary surveys.
- Accurately prepare survey data in a timely manner for construction staking projects.
- Instruct rod-person or assistant on survey crew.
- Process preliminary survey data to be used in construction plan preparation.
- Ability to make basic calculations used to prepare and maintain accurate engineering records.
- Ability to communicate with clients, Professional Engineers, and Land Surveyors clearly and effectively.
- Other duties as assigned under the direction of a licensed Professional Engineer or Land Surveyor.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, related field of study, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience performing construction staking and topographic survey work.
- Experience directing survey crews and/or technicians preferred but not required.
- Computer experience using Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Trimble.
- Self-motivated team member with a positive attitude and ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
- Must have the ability to understand and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
- Must be understanding to changes in schedule and the construction environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States.
- Valid driver’s license & ability to travel to various job sites, as required.
- Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
