This is an opportunity to be a part of the SD Board of Regents Classification and Compensation Center of Excellence and university system’s human resources team. This position will evaluate position classifications and compensation for compensation for employees of South Dakota’s six public universities and two special schools. As a Classification & Compensation Specialist, you’ll play a key role in ensuring fair and accurate job classifications, salary structures, and compensation strategies. Your keen eye for detail will help maintain compliance and equity, while your ability to communicate effectively will ensure employees and leaders feel informed and supported.

What you’ll do:
    • Analyze job roles and salary data to ensure fair and competitive compensation
    • Develop relationships with employees, supervisors and leaders across the state to evaluate position classifications, conduct market and equity analysis and provide guidance on classification and pay structures.
    • Work in a supportive, team environment where your expertise is valued.
    • Conduct market research, salary surveys and data reviews to maintain compliance, equity and develop best practices.

 

Job Requirements
Minimally qualified applicants will have education, training, and/or experience with:
-Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in human resources, business administration, or related field.
-1-3 years of related experience in HR, compensation analysis, classification, job analysis or related human resources functions.
-Varying combinations of experience and education may be acceptable.

-Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to evaluate job descriptions, compare and contrast information, analyze compensation structures and conduct market analysis to make recommendations.
-Flexibility and Adaptability: Ability to adjust to changing priorities, handle multiple tasks efficiently and work in a dynamic environment.
Problem Solving: Ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions that address varying needs based on institutional structures, missions and cultures.
