Controller / Accountant
Join our team! Shine Bros. Corp. was established in 1902. We are seeking a Controller / Accountant to join our innovative team. Will be responsible for overseeing and handling all aspects of finances and accounting for several companies and business units. Position is in-person, located in Spencer, Iowa.
PAY DEPENDS ON EXPERIENCE
Summary /Objective:
Manage accounting department providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management, owners ,and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company's future.
Essential Functions:
- Directly responsible for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual reviews for several entities.
- Prepare monthly and year end closing of the general ledger.
- Participate in and oversee the activities of Accounts Payable personnel, ensuring the accurate and timely payment of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, employee expense reports, cash control, etc.
- Participate in and oversee the activities of Accounts Receivable personnel to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components as well as assist in collection process as necessary.
- Strong understanding of sales tax and use tax laws and prepare state sales tax returns.
- Participate in payroll and total corporate payroll tax compliance. Prepare all quarterly and year-end payroll reports.
- Manage reliable cash flow projections.
- Perform all bank reconciliations at month end in a timely manner.
- Work with outside CPA to assure corporate income tax compliance, and to assure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate financial statements.
- Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data.
- Participate in special projects and compile a variety of special reports on an “as-needed” basis.
- Communicate with co-workers, management, customers and others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
- Perform audits and assist with risk management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Pay:
This is a full-time position – in person. Monday thru Friday. Pay depends on experience.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
- CPA or CMA not required but a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite of products including Excel.
- Minimum of five years of hands-on accounting managerial experience.
- Knowledge and experience with GAAP
