Roberts County Jail is seeking a compassionate, dedicated professional to join our team as Correctional Nurse, delivering critical healthcare services to our inmate population.
Job Purpose and Summary
As a Correctional Nurse, you will care for individuals who are sick, injured, or otherwise in need of medical assistance within a correctional setting. Under general supervision, you will:
- Provide nursing care utilizing assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation skills.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective healthcare delivery and improved patient outcomes.
- Promote and improve overall health among a diverse inmate population, many of whom may not have had consistent access to healthcare prior to incarceration.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited RN or LPN program.
- Current RN or LPN license in good standing with the state licensing board.
- Strong critical thinking and assessment skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to train and provide instruction to other employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure timely and appropriate care for inmate patients.
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapeutic agents as prescribed.
- Provide emergency care and first aid when necessary.
- Assist physicians with medical procedures and treatments.
- Conduct patient assessments, record vital signs, and collect specimens for diagnostic testing.
- Document all care accurately and promptly in compliance with facility protocols.
- Educate inmates on health topics and assist with discharge planning.
- Maintain a professional, ethical, and therapeutic environment while upholding HIPAA regulations.
