Job Title: Delivery Driver/Janitor

Department: Senior Citizen Department

Reports To: Senior Citizen Coordinator

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hours: Monday-Friday; 6:00am – 2:00pm

SUMMARY

The Delivery Driver will deliver meals to home bound seniors on specified routes Monday through Fridays. Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the facility.

DELIVERY DRIVER SCOPE OF WORK:

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for the delivery of daily hot meals to home bound seniors. Delivery consists of (1) one meal per day, per Tribal Elder.

  • Delivery routes will be assigned each morning.

  • Deliveries are in all areas of Moody County and routes on and off the Tribal reservation.

  • Deliveries will be delivered by Tribal Vehicle.

  • Reports to Senior Citizen Coordinator.

DELIVERY DRIVER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a clean driving record and auto insurance. Provide proof when requested.

  • Meals to be delivered regardless of weather conditions.

  • Delivery associates will adhere to the Daily Meal Protocol. Associates will call the office immediately if a client’s situation has changed, or the client appears to be ill or at risk.

  • Count meals and check for accuracy of meal types before beginning the delivery route.

  • Call the office immediately if a delivery is delayed for any reason and/or requires unusual mileage to complete.

  • Must adhere to FSST Tribal policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for reading, understanding and complying with the FSST Employee Handbook.

  • Will attend trainings and workshops assigned by supervisor.

  • Help in the kitchen when needed.

JANITORIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Vacuum dining room carpet.

  • Clean Bathroom – making sure they are kept stocked.

  • Clean and sanitize dining area at Seniors Center.

  • Cleaning will include seasonal outside duties such as shoveling sidewalks/sanding walkways/ramp to Senior Center.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • The willingness to assist elderly.

  • Must have a reputation for being caring and trustworthy.

  • Work with the public, tribal staff, and agency partners in a professional manner.

  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural background and with co-workers at all levels. (Knowledge of local and tribal customs and traditions is preferred, but not required).

  • Ability to exercise independent judgement.

  • Must be able to communicate verbally both face to face and over the phone; and in writing.

  • Must be discreet. This position may provide access to confidential and personal information that is protected by the FSST Privacy Act.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Bending at the waist, sitting still for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, hearing and speaking to exchange information, seeing to read reports and data and occasional lifting of 25 pounds or more.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The position will mainly consist of working in outdoor environments; there will be exposure to a range of climate conditions while traveling and delivering meals.

  • Some out of town travel.

  • Must be flexible with scheduling. Services may occasionally be needed on holidays, weekends, and evenings.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a GED or high school diploma

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

  • Must have a valid SD driver’s license.
