Dakota Dental is looking to expand our team! We are a fast paced, 3 doctor dental practice providing exceptional care for over 40 years.
Job Description:
Responsible for providing excellent patient care in all areas of dentistry. Must be willing to perform dental prophylaxis on patients of all ages, periodontal services, radiographs, document all services completed at each appointment, maintain patient confidentiality, and engage and develop relationships with patients.
Required Skills/Education:
Strong computer skills and experience with Dentrix is preferred. Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene. Current Licensure as a Dental Hygienist required. CPR and Nitrous Oxide certificate preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Performs dental prophylactics, removing deposits (plaque, tarter, stain) from the teeth.
• Performs advanced prophylactic dental procedures in the treatment of patients with related medical and dental problems, such as diabetes, cardiac complications and periodontal disease.
• Examines the teeth and surrounding tissues for evidence of plaque and periodontal disease and charts the findings.
• Inspects the throat and mouth for evidence of various diseases, such as oral cancer.
• Exposes and interprets routine radiographs to identify tooth structures, calculus and abnormalities such as cavities, deep occlusion and suspicious lesions.
• Polishes teeth and applies fluoride for hypersensitivity and cavity prevention.
• Instructs patients at chair side in oral hygiene, brushing, flossing techniques and periodontal aides.
• Places local chemotherapeutics as assigned by dentist.
• Delivers local anesthesia, when necessary, as assigned by the dentist.
• Maintains patient record of treatment.
• Charts such conditions for further diagnosis and treatment by dentist.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
• Ability to independently assess the nature and extent of dental, periodontal and associated pathology in dental outpatients.
• Knowledge of patient screening, charting and medical history procedures/documentation.
• Ability to perform a full range of established dental hygienist protocol and procedures.
• Ability to analyze medical records and prescribed protocol to formulate effective therapeutic treatment plans.
• Ability to set up and prepare dental equipment and instrumentation in accordance with established regulations and guidelines.
• Must be knowledgeable of the HIPAA act.
• Must be timely, meticulous and thorough with multiple details.
Compensation and benefits include:
- Highly competitive wage ranging from $38.00 - $43.00 / hour (based upon experience)

Monday – 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Tuesday – Off
Wednesday – 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Thursday – 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Friday – 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
