Job Description

Summary/Objective: The Design Engineer is dedicated to the design, development, and technical support of new products and may provide opportunities to support the design and development of all Loar products.

Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Design and promote a safe and clean work environment.
  • Design new products to support customer technical requirements
  • Develop new processes and procedures in support of new product development.
  • Work with manufacturing engineering to provide accurate and clear work instructions to insure repeatable manufacturing processes.
  • Work in conjunction with manufacturing engineering and the quality dept. to implement production control and proactive SPC.
  • Create models and manufacturing drawings for new products using SolidWorks.
  • Follow all Solutions Engineering Procedures for Project Management, PDM, and CAD Development.
  • Follow New Products Development processes and procedures including acceptance and qualification procedures and reports.
  • Supports and implements industry standards including the importance of product safety and engineering ethics.
  • Develop, build, and test product prototypes.
  • Research new product ideas and methods.
  • Improve existing products and processes.
  • Find creative design solutions to problems.
  • Present prototypes and designs to customers and team members.
  • Supports manufacturing engineering with tool design for new products.
  • Participates group discussions, keeps an open mind towards learning from and sharing with team members.
  • Look for and act on opportunities to support continuous improvement team projects.
  • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products. Develops project plans, establishes goals and due dates.
  • Support other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Four-year engineering degree and/or relevant work experience in a design\ manufacturing environment.
  • Must have a practical understanding and proficiency in engineering drawing interpretation to include GD&T requirements.
  • Individual must be able to work with little to no supervision after initial training period, showing a high degree of initiative and self-motivation. Must demonstrate consistently being a good example of providing informal leadership and excellent work ethic.
  • Must be able to accurately and efficiently generate designs, standard operating procedures, and etc.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills, technical capacity and problem solving/analysis abilities.

  • Post-offer drug screen and background checks are required
