GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The Area Development Manager meets with engineers and buyers in the territory to discover and create new opportunities. They build customer relationships and act as a local technical and commercial resource. This position supports the selection and approval of our standard electronic and electromechanical components. The Area Development Manager is responsible for managing these project opportunities until the first production order is received.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up and conduct face-to-face meetings with design engineers within the assigned account base including active customers and prospects.
- Identify projects to collaborate on with assigned accounts. Listen, understand, and discuss their needs. Explain how these needs could be met by specific products and services.
- Provide quotations and samples of suitable components for the customer application.
- Utilize project management and maintain customer records and activities using Alphaplan CRM system.
- Grow number of active customers and expand WE’s presence on their circuit board.
- Responsible for gross profit.
- Find and meet new engineering contacts through customer visits and by following up on leads from distribution partners, existing contacts, IC houses, social media, seminars / webinars, contract manufacturers, trade shows and conferences.
- Work cooperatively with Inside Sales and Application Engineering to develop customer relationships and provide excellent support.
- Answer customer's questions about products, prices, availability, and product uses.
- Emphasize product features based on analyses of customer's applications, and on technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations as well as competitive situation.
- Distribute resources such as samples, promotional and educational materials.
