Position Overview:Children’s Home Society of South Dakota is seeking a Director of Development to work as a key member of the development team responsible for cultivating and stewarding relationships with major donors to secure significant philanthropic support for the organization. While also promoting Children’s Home Society to the community through securing event sponsorships, managing events and coordinating and leading affiliated fundraising activities. What You Will Do:- Develop and implement strategies to secure new event sponsorships and maintain relationships with existing sponsors.
- Manage sponsor stewardship, recognition, and event participation as needed.
- Oversee and support all CHS-affiliated fundraising activities, ensuring sponsor groups have the necessary information.
- Ensure compliance with CHS brand standards and accurately track fundraising efforts.
- Identify, research, and cultivate relationships with potential major donors.
- Develop personalized solicitation strategies and create impactful proposals to secure philanthropic investments.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with major donors by understanding their philanthropic interests and engaging them through regular communication.
- Ensure donors feel valued and connected to the organization's mission through personalized interactions and stewardship efforts.
- Implement stewardship plans to recognize and engage major donors, ensuring they feel appreciated and informed.
- Provide impact updates and facilitate personalized donor experiences, such as site visits and engagement opportunities.
- Collaborate with the development team to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals.
- Maintain accurate donor records and provide regular reports on engagement, solicitation progress, and fundraising outcomes.
- Plan and execute donor cultivation and stewardship events to enhance engagement.
- Work with event planning teams to ensure seamless donor experiences.

Requirements
Education:- Bachelor's degree in related field such as nonprofit management, fundraising, business, or communications required.
- Master's degree in nonprofit management, philanthropy, or related field preferred.
Experience:- Proven experience in major gifts fundraising, donor relations, or related roles within the nonprofit sector.
- Experience Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build authentic relationships.
- Ability to effectively communicate the organization's mission, impact, and funding needs.
- Experience in crafting compelling fundraising proposals and presentations.
- Ability to understand and navigate the interests and motivations of major donors.
- Familiarity with donor management systems and databases.
Licensure:- Certification in fundraising (e.g., CFRE) is preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:- Normal office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, etc. Extended PC viewing and keyboarding required. Extended periods of sedentary work required.
