Department Details

This position will be scheduled on an as needed basis and will be teaching the following classes:

Parenting Class (Series of once per week for 4 weeks; each 2 hours)

Provide education to parents to help them understand the world from a child’s perspective including:

  • What children do and say at various ages and what they can do to encourage your child’s development
  • Tips to help keep their home a safe place for their little one to grow and learn
  • Understanding of what children learn at different age and how to encourage their child’s learning
  • Guiding and encouraging their child to manage their feelings

Certified CPR AED (Approximately 3.5 hours)

Provide American Heart Association certified instruction to childcare providers on Heartsaver basic Adult, Child, and Infant CPR skills such as performing a head tilt-chin lift, giving compressions and breaths, and basic AED use. If applicants are not currently trained to teach certified CPR, on the job training will be provided.

Job Summary

Provide education and support to adults that affect the lives of children within a designated age group primarily to parents and childcare providers funded through childcare services. Establishes and maintains effective interpersonal relationships with job related contacts. The Early Childhood Specialist assists in the coordination and implementation of grant projects, service agreements, and contracts to help assure success in the community and at the medical centers.

Conducts presentations, and educational consultations. Coordinates specific course logistics and objectives pertinent to subject matter. Responsible to maintain consistent and quality improvement processes centered around state regulation requirements. The educator is specialized in their designated topic and age group and all aspects around child development and safety.

Knowledge of and use of appropriate age-related protocols relating to developmental, health and safety needs of children. Must be able to work with growing needs of unique populations served. Must possess observations skills to properly assess family and individual needs. Provides monitoring capability to ensure compliance within each assigned program in order to accurately report up to federal government for quality enhancements, data collection and reporting and maintaining compliance.

Work hours vary according to department and client needs. Some evenings and/or weekend work hours required.

Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required. Field of study preference in early childhood education, child development, family relations. preferred. In lieu of degree, leadership may consider six years equivalent work experience.

One year of experience collaborating with adults on the development, health and safety needs of children. May require certification/licensure as required by profession and program specification. Dependent on needs of department, may require a valid driver’s license. Must maintain a good driving record.
