The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) has a perfect opportunity for you as a Highway Construction Project Engineer Supervisor!

Job Description:

The purpose of this position is to provide supervision over the engineering office in the Huron Area Office. The office is responsible for preliminary design, survey, construction inspection, material testing, project documentation and contract administration. The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for coordinating resources and directing the staff; determines the need and acquires additional resources through consulting engineers and seasonal employees; ensures training and certification of staff; works closely with the public, contractors, other government entities and other DOT offices; serves as the technical expert for construction related issues; resolves contractor disputes; interprets plans and specifications; and addresses personnel issues.

Knowledge of:
  • engineering principles and practices as they relate to highway construction;
  • standard specifications for roads and bridges;
  • state and federal laws and regulations governing highways;
  • department policies and procedures regarding personnel and construction.

Position Requirements:

Only applicants with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering or a related engineering field will be considered. Applicants should possess or be eligible to obtain an FE or PE license.

Compensation:
The total compensation of Hourly Wage + State/Federal Benefits for a typical year for entry level Highway Construction Project Engineer Supervisor is $125,436.00 annually.

This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
