POSITION SUMMARY
The Engineering Technician-Mechanical will support the design, development, and testing of sub-systems related to firetrucks. Mechanical engineering is responsible for turning ideas for products into functional prototypes and eventual production. The position will support the engineering team in creating advanced engineering designs, production designs and drawings, and supporting issue evaluations. The engineering technician will achieve these goals by working with the engineering teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Supports engineering related functions including production, design, research and development, testing, and budgeting.
Implements integrated hardware solutions to meet sub-system performance requirements under the direction of engineering leadership.
Develops and monitors simulation, lab and field validation and test programs to assure performance. Gathers and analyzes data to monitor product and component performance.
Create and manage detail drawings and Bill of Materials.
May prepare and manage records necessary for certification and for regulatory compliance and certification.
Maintains contact with suppliers, with Purchasing, to evaluate new products as well as support and ensure parts received meet quality standards.
Analyze and problem-solve design, production, and field issues to successful resolution.
Review and analyze customer returns to assess product conformance to specifications.
Prepares and presents project status reports.
Prioritizes and manages multiple assignments and objectives as well as handling unscheduled tasks.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the company.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’S): The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
K | Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience: High school diploma required. CAD experience preferred. 1 year of structural design/drafting experience is preferred. Associate degree in Engineering or related is preferred. Product data management utilizing CAD and PDM systems. SolidWorks experience preferred. - Experience in heavy truck systems and/or automotive systems.
- Understanding manufacturing processes for efficient assembly and serviceability. Understanding the custom manufacturing environment is preferred.
Knowledge of firefighting processes and equipment is preferred.
