Job Title: Server
Reports to: Dining Room Manager
Compensation Type: Hourly
Summary of Position: Provide friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for all of our guests. Each server’s primary objective is to show our guests such a marvelous time, they will want to return again and again.
Duties and Responsibilities:
o Welcome and greet guests. Make all of our guests feel comfortable and let them know you’re there to personally take care of them.
o Inform guests of specials and menu changes.
o Recommendation food items and beverages to guests, part of your job is to be a salesperson for the establishment.
o Answer questions about our food, beverage and other restaurant functions and services.
o Take food and beverage orders from guests, enter orders in our POS system which relays orders to kitchen and bar.
o Deliver any and all prepared food and beverages from kitchen and bar to guests in a timely manner
o Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as required by side work assignment.
o Maintain clean service areas
o Performs other related duties as assigned by the manager on duty
o Monitor and observe guest dining experience. Ensure guests are satisfied with the food, beverage and service. Respond promptly and courteously to any requests.
o Watch for empty glasses and offer refills accordingly
o Prepare final bill, present check to guest, accept payment, process credit card charges or make change (if applicable)
o Operate POS system and handle cash, following all cash procedures.
o Be ready and willing to assist fellow servers as needed
o Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return.
o Follow all health and safety regulations
o If needed, check guest identification to ensure they are of legal drinking age
o Monitor guests’ alcohol intake, alerting management and slowing or stopping service for intoxicated guests
o Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the establishment as directed by manager or immediate supervisor
Qualifications:
o Good customer service and communication skills
o Good short-term memory retention
o Friendly personality and ability to create rapport with customers
o Must have basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures and functions.
o Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate POS system
o Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours)
o Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food frequently weighting up to 20 pounds or more.
