This is a Full-Time 40 Hour Weekly position with the SD Developmental Center.
This position cleans and sanitizes floors, walls, and furniture in offices and residential living areas. Cleans bathrooms to ensure sanitary conditions are met. Will assist with snow removal using hand tools as needed. Keeps walkways and entrances to buildings free of ice and snow.
Facility Workers are conducting basic maintenance and grounds at SDDC, and a good percentage of KSA's listed.
Duties are as follows:
- Janitorial equipment maintenance and repair.
- Basic electrical maintenance
- Changing of incandescent, fluorescent, and LED lamps.
- Basic plumbing maintenance and repair
- Unplugs sinks, toilets and drains with hand cable snakes.
- Unplugs pipes/replace drain tail pieces.
Grounds
- Removes snow and/ice from sidewalks, steps, ramps for accessibility.
- Set up auditorium for special events.
- Operates string trimmer.
- Weed flower beds.
- Monitoring buildings and grounds.
- Monitors for unlocked doors/windows and secures.
- Reports unsafe conditions to supervisor.
- Work from ladders.
- Perform heavy lifting and physical labor.
- Client moves within facility.
- Beds, dressers, personal effects.
- Basic carpentry
- Basic painting
- Vents
- Registers
- Assist Sr. Building Maintenance with lifting/setting cabinetry.
Custodial duties
- All custodial duties for a clean and sanitary living and working environment.
Working hours may vary depending on the project load and assignment.
Must be flexible to be called in during weather events such as blizzards. Will be required to use chemicals that kill bacteria. Must have the ability to use janitorial equipment such as buffers, mops, brooms, vacuums, etc.
This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
