Fence Co-Foreman:  These are our Fence Ninjas. They can build any style of fence with little to small amounts of guidance.

Pay: $24.00 -$30.00 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY 

The position of Co-Foreman will be responsible for gathering information needed by interpreting instructions, drawings, or specifications to ensure appropriate and safe placement of fencing. Individuals must have knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction and installation of fencing. Assists the Foreman with daily duties i.e. workload for crew, job paperwork, vehicle and equipment maintenance etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Attach fence rail supports to posts using appropriate materials, tools and approved methods of installations and repair work 

  • Attach rails or tension wire along bottoms of posts to form fencing frames 

  • Construct and repair barriers, retaining walls, and other types of fences, walls and gates. 

  • Dig post holes using spades, post hole diggers, or power-driven augers. 

  • Nail pointed slats to rails to construct picket fences. 

  • Nail top and bottom rails to fence posts or insert them into slots on posts. 

  • Set posts in concrete as directed. 

  • Construct alternate panel, basket weave, and louvered fences. 

  • Make rails for fences by sawing lumber or cutting metal tubing to required length. 

  • Mix and pour concrete around bases and posts or tamp soil into postholes to embed posts. 

  • Set metal, wooden, or vinyl posts in upright positions in postholes. 

  • Stretch wire, wire mesh, or chain link fencing between posts and attach fencing to frames. 

  • Assists the Foreman with assigning tasks, motivating and training the laborer(s) on proper handling of materials, tools and approved methods of installations and repair work. 

  • Assists the Foreman with ensuring company policies and procedures, as well as safety guidelines are followed. 

  • Assists the Foreman with reviewing the installation in as much detail as the customer requests upon completion of the job. Ensuring customer satisfaction with job completion prior to leaving the job site and moving on to the next job site. 

  • Have a clear understanding of the materials budgeted for the quote and the number of man hours needed to achieve gross margin percentage goal (GM%).  

  • Assists the Foreman with assessing the working conditions of the job once on-site, plans time allotment, tools needed and order of work determining workload for crew. 

  • Assists the Foreman with adjusting for conditions, making changes from original job order as necessary, troubleshooting situations, innovating processes on the spot in order to complete the job meeting company standards and timetables. 

  • Responsible for keeping trucks and all equipment, tools and supplies assigned to their inventory both in physical and monetary value clean and organized. 

  • Responsible for scheduling routine maintenance of augers 

  • Other duties as assigned and needed.

SKILLS & ABILITIES 

 

Education: High School Diploma or General Education Degree equivalent (GED) 

 

Experience:  

  • One-year related fencing or construction trades experience preferred 

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience 

 

Basic Skills:  

  • Ability to add, subtract and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. 

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent 

  • Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs 

 

Computer Skills: Basic computer skills and working knowledge of software is preferred 

 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Vision-Must be able to read reports, data and statistics on computer screen (75-100%) 

  • Hearing-Must be able to hear and communicate on telephone and in person (75-100%) 

  • Standing/Walking (75-100%) 

  • Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling (75-100%) 

  • Must be able to lift up 100lbs of force occasionally up to 80 lbs of force frequently, and up to 20lbs of force consistently to move objects.
