Position Overview: Children’s Home Society is a leading provider of services to vulnerable men, women, children, and families in South Dakota. As a full-time Teacher's Assistant, you will provide supervision of and instruction to children as part of a team approach in accordance with the organization’s Mission Statement and Core Values.

Your Key Responsibilities: - Treatment Planning: Assist in performing treatment plan and individual education plan methods specific to each child.
- Teaching: Assist in conducting classroom activities and lesson planning, providing instruction, review, and practice of skills taught by the Classroom Teacher with individual and small groups of students. Prepare instructional materials as directed by the Classroom Teacher. Maintain classroom and/or student records and documentation and contributes data for progress notes and individual treatment plans. Assume Classroom Teacher’s duties in his/her absence
- Child Supervision: Nurture children through one-on-one communication and care and maintain vigilant supervision. Reinforce instructional/behavioral objectives as needed in order to maintain an effective classroom learning environment.
- Safety: Maintain the confidentiality of students and their families. Follow Agency and School Policies and Procedures.

Requirements
Experience/Education/Skills: Minimum of a high school diploma required. Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers and software utilized by office.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: Must be able to physically restrain a child in ways taught by the Agency while being able to verbally communicate to the child and other staff. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
