Job Summary & Requirements

Job Summary:

Utilizing high-speed complex machinery and strong attention to detail, this position completes slitting

operations in the finishing department. This position runs operations on a variety of fast-moving AVT

systems, reviews and inspects non-conformances detected by the AVT camera system to verify the

product meets quality and quantity standards set by the customer and CCL and for color, metrics and

registration and packages and labels product in an efficient manner to ensure on time delivery to the

customer.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform set up on multiple pieces of complex automated inspection and slitting equipment.

• Ensures proper validation sign-off of set up is complete prior to running a job.

• Loads labels, press rolls or other printed material into equipment.

• Reviews recognized defects, remove and/or replace defects as required according to customer

specification.

• Prepares packaging materials including cutting cores, making boxes, and printing core labels.

• Unloads finished product and packages product for shipping according to customer

specification.

• Prepares finished product for final inspection.

• Adjust, utilize and replace cutting blades on a frequent basis with proper PPE.

• Frequently operates manual pallet lifts/jacks and other lifting equipment as needed for material

and product movement.

• Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on equipment.

• Report machine and equipment issues immediately that is not resolved by troubleshooting or

that is outside the scope of the operator to supervisor and or/maintenance.

• Properly complete all documentation required on the computer and by hand to track the job.

• Properly use computer to enter/retrieve job specific information and complete training

documents.

• Follows Standard Operating Procedure to not cause rework or negatively affect the customer.

• Be present in assigned work area and actively engaged in regular job duties and assigned tasks

under the direction of the department supervisor during working hours.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Be safety conscious and have the ability to regularly work in a production environment with fast

moving machinery and product under little supervision

• Have safety awareness and ability to recognize hazards including, but not limited to staying out

of safety light areas while machinery is operating and maintaining a safe distance as required.

Ability to understand and comply with all general safety policies and procedures in accordance

with Company, State and Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules

and regulations.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to proof-read, spot errors and inconsistencies and take

appropriate action

• Good mechanical aptitude and skills

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals quickly and

correctly.

• Skill in practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.

• Skill in performing measurement operations with units in imperial and metric systems.

• Ability to measure with exceptional accuracy using various measurement tools.

• Able to read, interpret and follow documents such as work instructions, safety rules, Standard

Operating Procedures, and maintenance instructions/manuals to properly perform work.

• Ability to troubleshoot problems.

• Willingness and ability to work with other team members and management.

• Strong work ethic and good attitude towards work.

• Honest, reliable team player.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent

• 6 months or more Experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred)

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms above and below shoulder level
  • Regularly stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Regularly communicate in some manner either by speech/hearing or through written communication.
  • Regularly use of vision abilities including close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly work around moving machinery and heavy equipment.
  • Frequently required to push/pull.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently exposed to high-speed moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequently exposed to UV, strobing or flashing light.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes, dust or airborne particles.
  • Regularly exposed to moderate noise level in the work environment.
