Job Summary:
Bowes Construction Inc. is seeking a skilled GPS Technology Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with machine control GPS equipment, rovers, base stations, site and cad modeling, and will be comfortable with tasks such as grade checking and basic estimating. This role requires proficiency in technology, a strong willingness to learn, and the ability to operate equipment or learn equipment operation as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot GPS equipment on heavy machinery.
- Perform site modeling and CAD modeling to ensure project accuracy.
- Conduct grade checking to verify project quantities.
- Assist in basic estimating tasks, including take-offs for bids.
- Troubleshoot GPS issues and perform base station setup.
- Track project quantities.
- Operate equipment occasionally as needed for projects.
- Maintenance: Conduct maintenance on automation Equipment
- Calibration : Calibrate and operate automation equipment
- Documentation: Prepare detailed documentation and reports on system performance and maintenance activities
-Training: Provide technical support and training to other team members
- Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Surveying, or a related field.
- Experience or proficiency in construction estimating.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
- Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
- Some experience in the heavy construction industry.
Skills & Competencies:
- Technical aptitude with GPS and CAD systems.
- Problem-solving skills for troubleshooting GPS and equipment issues.
- Attention to detail in grade checking and site modeling.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with team members and clients.
