JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in Elementary and/or Early Childhood Education or Human Development.
- A Child Development Associate’s Degree (CDA)
- Associate of Arts Degree in the field of Early Childhood Education
- At least 2 years in a childcare setting
- Combination of Education or Experience in a Childcare Setting
- Willingness to obtain a Child Development Associate’s Degree (CDA)
SHIFT: Varies (Hours of operation 6am-6pm)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Organizes, plans, and leads activities of children ages 4 weeks to 10 years old. Plans weekly educational lessons designed to meet the cognitive, social/emotional, language, physical and self-help development of each child. Oversees daily duties of assigned room.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)
- Must be a positive role model and representative of Bethesda Sharing Center
- Must arrive on time and be reliable in attendance
- Must be flexible with assignments and schedules
- Must be able to remain calm in tense situations
- Must be able to work with up to 10-20 children of varying personalities throughout the day
- Assist in fundraising and program activities
- Attend and contribute to all staff meetings
- Report to the Operations Director and/or Program Director any complaints heard by family members and staff
- Responsible to help with daily cleaning of toys, shelves, etc.
- Report and refer problem resolution to the Operations Director or Program Director
- Must be able to deal tactfully with co-workers, supervisors, families, visitors, government agencies and the general public
- Follow established department and facility policies and procedures
- Must work harmoniously with staff in all departments
- Must be able to establish and maintain relationships of trust and cooperation with co-workers.
- Must be willing to share resources and information pertinent to childcare with co-workers.
- Must be willing to support co-workers in meeting their professional needs and in their professional development.
- Make new staff members feel welcome and included
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists with supervising 3 to 4 employees in a designated room. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Operations Director and Program Director in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assistance in training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, evaluating performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Assumes Center responsibilities in the absence of the Operations Director and Program Director.
