Job Summary & RequirementsJob Summary:This position is responsible for performing a broad range of technical tasks pertaining to daily ink room management and operation, including matching and blending colors as required by the customer, maintaining stocking levels for all materials, following up with production leadership daily for ink performance issues and supplies under the direction of the Department manager.

Duties/Responsibilities: - Produce and quality control inks to ensure customers color expectations are met or exceeded
- Maintain detailed production and Quality Control records through the use of color measuring equipment.
- Perform color matching and formulation.
- Identify opportunities to rework leftover inks.
- Provide strong press side technical support to operators and supervisors.
- Planning: establish the daily ink production schedule based on customer's press schedule, including inventory control (ordering/receiving of inks).
- Support the Manager of the ink department in building and implementing action plans related to best practice strategies.
- Properly weigh and adjust ink batches as the job requires
- Problem Solving: Provide technical guidance to the floor to determine problem resolution related to application of our products on the press.
- Support the production supervisors in identifying and eliminating the root cause of day-to-day pressroom problems.
- Work closely with Tech Services on press trials and press proofs.
- Exchange of information with shifts prior to/following work shift
- Ability to work independently and maintain quality on projects
- Properly complete all documentation required on the computer or by hand to track the job.
- Properly use computer to enter/retrieve job specific information and complete/reference training documents.
- Perform tasks assigned by others in a diverse and varied work environment.
- Follows cGMP policy and Standard Operating Procedure
Required Skills/Abilities: - Good mechanical aptitude and skills
- Strong knowledge in MS Excel, ink-dispensing software & color matching software.
- Well versed in the use of Color Measuring instruments: Spectrophotometer such as X-Rite Exact, Densitometers, Hazemeters.
- Well versed in ink dispensing software platforms such as Novaflow, SPEC, Mixmaster, etc.
- Well versed in Pressroom Color Quality Control software such as colorcert, Color iQC or Color matching software such as X-Rite Color iMatch .
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals quickly and correctly.
- Skill in practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
- Skill in performing measurement operations with units in imperial and metric systems.
- Ability to measure with exceptional accuracy using various measurement tools.
- Able to read, interpret and follow documents such as work instructions, safety rules, Standard Operating Procedures, and maintenance instructions/manuals to properly perform work.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems.
- Willingness and ability to work with other team members and management.
- Strong work ethic and good attitude towards work.
- Honest, reliable team player.
- Safety conscious and comply with all general safety policies and procedures in accordance with Company, State and Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
Education and Experience: - High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Tech/trade school degree preferred
- 3 years or more experience in industry experience (preferred)
Physical Requirements: - Regularly use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms above and below shoulder level
- Regularly stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Regularly communicate in some manner either by speech/hearing or through written communication.
- Regularly use of vision abilities including close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly work around moving machinery and heavy equipment.
- Frequently required to push/pull.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently exposed to high-speed moving mechanical parts.
- Frequently exposed to UV, strobing or flashing light.
- Occasionally exposed to fumes, dust or airborne particles.
- Regularly exposed to moderate noise level in the work environment.
