Position Overview:The Owen School at Children’s Home Society of South Dakota is seeking an Intermediate Classroom Teacher to reinforce learning in accordance with the organization’s Mission Statement and Core Values. What You Will Do:- Plan instructional tasks that are meaningful and related to learning goals.
- Communicate a high-level of expectation and clear learning goals to students.
- Adapt instruction to meet the needs of all students.
- Conduct on-going assessments for learning.
- Display enjoyment, humor, and enthusiasm for teaching and expect students to enjoy learning.
- Establish appropriate classroom rules and procedures that are clearly understood by all students.
- Participate in professional growth opportunities and demonstrate professionalism.
- Follow Agency and School policies and procedures.
- Support Agency goals.
- Report student progress through initial, quarterly, annual, and discharge reports in accordance with accreditation, licensing, and Agency standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education:- Bachelor’s Degree in Education is Required.
- Master's Degree and/or Special Education Endorsement is Preferred
Licensure:- Possession of a valid South Dakota Teaching Certificate Required.
- A Special Education Certification Endorsement is Preferred.
Skills:- Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers and software utilized by office.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:- Classroom environment focused on the instruction of children with emotional and behavioral issues.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to physically restrain a child in ways taught by the Agency while being able to verbally communicate to the child and other staff.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
