Classification: Full time; Exempt

Shift: Monday – Friday, core hours 8:30am-5:00pm

Job Summary:

The IT Product Owner is a critical role in Agile project management, responsible for maximizing the value of the product created by the development team. Acting as a bridge between stakeholders and the development team, the PO ensures that the product aligns with business goals and user needs. This role involves decision-making authority over the product backlog and prioritizing tasks based on value and impact, guiding the team toward successful product delivery.

Essential Functions:

  • Delivers written and oral communication, responds to questions and concerns, and produce specific outcomes and impact.
  • Continuously gather, understand, and represent customer feedback and expectations. Communicate these insights to the team to ensure the product meets user needs and preferences.
  • Clearly articulates the long-term vision and goals of the product, ensuring that every feature aligns with the overall strategy and user needs.
  • Monitors industry trends and directions and discusses possible impact on internal strategies.
  • Owns the product backlog by creating, refining, and prioritizing tasks. Ensure that the most valuable and impactful work is addressed first, considering both business and user priorities.
  • Analyze existing systems, processes, and data to identify improvement opportunities. 
  • Provide direction for development sprints, offering clarity on acceptance criteria and ensuring that each increment delivers real value. Be available to answer questions and offer feedback to keep the team on track.
  • Make decisions based on the highest possible return on investment (ROI), balancing user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility to drive the most impactful product developments.
  • Oversee the planning and timing of product releases, ensuring readiness and alignment with organizational goals and timelines.

     

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business or a related field required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business analysis required

  • Exceptional ability to position and “sell” solutions that are reasonable, actionable, and cost-effective, including the ability to properly gauge the requirements and “plug” the appropriate solution.
  • Forward-thinking and resourceful to skirt red tape and ensure solutions are brought to fruition and requirements are closed properly.
  • Ability to problem solve and apply methodologies such as Unified Modeling Language and Rational Unified Process, to prepare detailed specifications using case statements and related documentation
  • People skills, with the ability to engage diplomatically with stakeholders and communicate changes that may not be aligned with the original expectations
  • Knowledge of proper requirements specification and development, such as process/functional requirements definition methods, JAD/RAD sessions, use case development, process flow diagrams
  • Working knowledge of Agile and Waterfall Methodologies

     

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 DOE. Silencer Central offers a competitive total compensation package that includes:
